Jan Leja served as a volunteer Team in Training (TNT)
marathon coach for 14 years.
TNT is a Leukemia & Lymphoma Society endurance sports training and fundraising program.
After completing his first marathon for TNT in 1998, he mentored, then coached TNT walkers.
Since June 2003 he's been a running coach.
As a TNT coach, he proudly assisted trainees who raised more than $600,000 for blood cancer research, patient support and education.
Jan is an avid (admittedly "middle of the pack") runner and former accomplished racewalker, has completed 44 marathons and
had often covered marathon equivalent distance while running his trainees in to the finish line.
"There is nothing more rewarding than to witness individuals, with whom you have trained and become friends,
cross a finish line, reach their goal and share in their very special, often life-changing, moment".
Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) certified coach (2004)
